Prepping for the Pope: MSG

In preparation for the September visit of the Pope to New York City, T-Mobile needed to boost capacity in mid town Manhattan. SQUAN won the bid to install an equipment shelter on one of the lower roof setbacks of Madison Square Garden.

The Ericsson equipment installed in the equipment shelter was supported by the DAS head end room located on the Main Concourse. In an effort to keep the install aesthetically pleasing, Madison Square Garden Management asked that we match the exterior color and finish of the shelter to the existing building HVAC equipment located on the roof. Due to tight schedules and Garden approvals SQUAN was also tasked to coordinate an alternate solution to ensure that the site is On Air prior to the impending Pope Visit. Union Labor was needed for crane and steel installation. SQUAN also worked closely with TPI, who manages the MSG telecommunications room and is responsible for installation of all DAS equipment.
